Fly with SAS to Bucharest

Take a trip to Romania and explore all the country has to offer. Whether you want to walk in Dracula’s footsteps and visit old castles in Transylvania, go shopping in Bucharest, swim in the Black sea or go skiing, climbing or hiking in the Carpathian mountains you will most likely find what you’re looking for in Romania.

Historical buildings in Bucharest

Take a walk around Bucharest to experience some of the city's past. Bucharest has seen Ottoman rule, communism, dictatorship and war through the years.

Visit the luxurious mansion where the dictator Ceaușescu and his wife Elena lived in luxury until they tried to flee the Romanian revolution in 1989. Ceaușescu is also behind the Palace of parliament – a building that took 13 years to complete. While you’re there – don’t miss the Museum of contemporary art in wing E4 of the building.

Flights to Romania

Bram Stoker’s Dracula is said to be inspired by Vlad Dracula, or Vlad the Impaler, one of the most famous figures in Romanian history. Bram Stoker’s book was only published in Romania in 1990.

Walk in Dracula’s footsteps and visit the house where Vlad Dracula was born in Sighisoara, a UNESCO world heritage site. Or visit Snagov monastery where his remains are said to be buried. Don’t miss Dracula’s castle, Bran castle, located near Brașov. Although Bran is the castle described in Stoker’s book, the real Vlad Dracula’s castle is actually the Poenari Castle. You reach the castle ruins by climbing the 1 462 steps.
