Damaged baggage
If your baggage is damaged on arrival, report it at the airport as soon as possible and file a claim with SAS within 7 days of receiving your bag.
You can report damaged baggage online within 72 hours of your flight’s arrival.
If more than 72 hours have passed, contact our arrival service by phone within 7 days.
If the baggage service desk is closed, take photos of:
Your damaged bag
Your bag tags
The closed service desk visible in the background
When you report the damage, you’ll receive a PIR number. You’ll need this number to file your claim, as it serves as proof that the damage was reported.
To process your case, we need both a PIR number and a submitted claim within 7 days.

Am I entitled to compensation for damaged baggage?
If you’re a resident of Norway, Switzerland, the UK or the EU, we’ll repair or replace your damaged bag. Just report the damage and file your claim no later than 7 days after you receive your bag. How do I file a claim for damaged baggage?
If your damaged item is special baggage – for example, a stroller, sports equipment, musical instrument or wheelchair – file a claim for special baggage
For all other damaged baggage:
If you live in Norway, Switzerland, the EU or the UK, file a claim to repair or replace your bag
If you live outside these countries, you’re missing items from inside your bag or your case doesn’t fit the categories above, file a compensation claim for damaged baggage.
What is a PIR number?
A PIR (property irregularity report) number is a 10-character reference number such as ARNSK12345. You'll get a PIR number when you report delayed baggage to track the status of your baggage. You also need your PIR number to file a claim for compensation.
