How does SAS calculate emissions?

The Emissions Calculator calculates fuel burn and emissions using several parameters. The most important parameters are the aircraft type and distance flown. Distance is calculated as the great circle distance (the shortest distance between 2 airports) and fuel burn and emissions are based on data from aircraft and engine manufacturers.

The Emissions Calculator on flysas.com uses flight data from our own database downloaded from each flight. This data is audited annually per EU ETS and CORSIA standards, with a fuel-to-CO2 conversion factor of 1 ton of fuel equaling 3.15 tons of CO2, consistent with EU ETS reporting.
