Upgrade your travel class with Star Alliance
This information notice summarizes the regulations when you upgrade your travel class with Star Alliance.
Star Alliance upgrade summary
Confirmed upgrade is valid from the booking classes B, S, Y class to SAS Business class on intercontinental flights.
Not valid on domestic and Scandinavian, to/from Finland nor on other European routes.
Not valid for Travel Pass/Travel Pass Corporate reservations.
Not valid on reservations made for points on regular tickets.
Infants are permitted and free of charge.
Standby upgrade at gate for points is still available, starting at 25 000 points per flight.
The same number of points is required for upgrade on SAS whether the passengers are adults or children.
Changes or cancellations cannot be done online, you must contact Member Service and a service fee will apply.
An eligible flight in a valid class must be booked and confirmed in the reservation.
Can be booked up until 24 hours prior to respective flights departure.
The reservation must be ticketed, irrespectively if it is an e-ticket or a paper ticket.
The original class booked applies as the basis for points, regardless of upgrades.
The same number of points is required for upgrades, whether the passengers are adults or children.
Maximum two flights and four passengers can be upgraded in one reservation.
Upgrade to the next premium cabin only.
Upgrade are not available on codeshare flights.
Upgrades are not guaranteed and may not be available on all flights.
Upgrades are based on the availability and only possible on the operating carriers.
Member will earn points according to the original reservation.
Member, paying for the upgrade with points from his/her account, does not need to participate in the journey.
The traveler receives travel/service benefits based on upgraded class, e.g. check-in counters, priority baggage, baggage allowance and lounge access.
Changes cannot be performed online, member must contact each operating airline's call center.
Changes of a confirmed upgrade, without losing expired points, can only be done to another flight with the same airline/date/routing (same airport codes). For changes to another airline/date/routing, a cancellation must be performed and a new reservation must be made.
The Star Alliance Upgrade Award is based on segment by segment. Note, traffic between/within zones may not always be operated by Star Alliance.

Capacity restrictions apply and upgrades from certain types of fares are not permissible. ot all participating airlines allows upgrade for infants.
