Pet in cabin
You can bring a small dog or cat older than 8 weeks in the cabin on SAS flights if it fits into an approved pet carrier under the seat in front of you. Naturally, service dogs are always welcome on board.
General requirements
Only 1 pet carrier is allowed per traveler with up to 2 healthy pets of the same species.
The carrier counts as your carry-on.
Your pet must be fully weaned, and all pets under 14 weeks require a veterinarian’s certificate.
Your pet must stay inside the carrier for the entire flight.
You’ll need to arrive at least 2 hours before departure to check in and go through security.
No pets are allowed in the cabin in Business on flights to or from North America and Asia or on SAS charter flights.
Make sure you have all the necessary documents for entry into other countries, if applicable.
Pet carrier requirements
Carriers must be soft-sided, fully closeable, well-ventilated and bite and leak-proof (Sherpa pet carrier or similar).
Max size: 40 x 25 x 23 cm (L x W x H).
Max weight: 8 kg (including pet).
The pet must be able to stand, turn and lie down comfortably inside the carrier.
If your pet doesn’t meet these requirements, it may be denied boarding.
How to book pet in cabin
The number of pets allowed per flight is limited and subject to availability, so submit your request when you book or up to 24 hours before departure at the latest under My trips. If we can transport your pet, you’ll see the option to book a pet online.
If you’re not able to book your pet in the cabin within 24 hours of buying your ticket, contact SAS Customer Service for help.
Fees for bringing a pet on board
You’ll need to pay a fee to bring a pet in the cabin or hold. Fees vary depending on your route and destination and are charged per flight. Service dogs travel free in the cabin.
