Service dogs
Traveling with a service dog
If you're traveling with a service dog, we’re happy to accommodate your needs on board. We recommend that you book your service dog at least 48 hours before departure either when you book your trip, under My trips or by contacting SAS Customer Service
Once we approve your request, we'll require details about your dog's health, training and behavior based on your destination.
Travel requirements for service dogs
Your dog must be a fully trained service dog and meet the following requirements to travel in the cabin with you.
Be on duty and identifiable (wearing a vest).
Have undergone behavior training (no barking, growling or jumping).
Remain under your control at all times (with leash and/or harness).
Sit or lie on floor in front of you without blocking aisle.
Documentation you need for your service dog
You're responsible for ensuring your service dog has the required documentation based on where you're traveling.
Once your service dog is confirmed, you'll need to complete 2 copies of the Certificate for Transportation of Animals and present them at check-in (except on domestic flights).
You'll also need to have these documents handy during your trip:
Medical certificate verifying the need for the service dog.
Veterinary health certificate and vaccination records.
Certificate from a certified service dog trainer outlining the dog’s specialized training.
Flights to/from US
If you're traveling on a direct flight to or from the US, you can bring 2 service dogs free of charge. You'll also need to complete 2 copies of the Service Animal Air Transportation Form and Service Animal Relief Attestation Form to present at check-in.
For connecting flights outside the US, you'll need to complete the Certificate for Transportation of Animals
In accordance with US Department of Transport regulations, SAS may refuse to allow your service dog on board.
