This is a bit off the tourist track, but that's why I love it so much. Take the metro to Tushinkskaya, then bus 549 or 541 & get off at the Arkhangelskoy bus stop. I just love walking in the gardens there.

Novospasskiy Monastery

Novospasskiy Monastery is well known as burial vault of the Romanov's boyar family. About 70 relatives of tsar family & many noble Russian families are buried here. The monastery was one of the richest ones and the center of Russian Orthodox culture before Soviet times. The monastery is home to ancient iconostasis (miraculously saved during Soviet times) & several wonder-working icons, one of which allegedly cures cancer.
