Carry-on bags

  • You can bring 1 one carry-on bag onboard (max 8 kg/18 lbs, 55 x 40 x 23 cm) in SAS Go Light, SAS Go and SAS Plus on domestic and European routes.
  • On flights to and from the US or Asia, you can bring 1 carry-on bag onboard (max 8 kg/18 lbs, 55 x 40 x 23 cm) when you travel in SAS Go Light or SAS Go. If you travel in SAS Business or SAS Plus, you can bring 2 carry-on bags onboard (max 8 kg, 55 x 40 x 23 cm). This also applies on connecting flights.
  • In addition to a carry-on, you can also bring 1 small personal item onboard such as a small handbag or laptop bag (max 40 x 30 x 15 cm) in all travel classes.
  • Liquids (liquids, aerosols, gels and pastes) must be packed in containers that hold a maximum of 100 ml. Containers of liquids must be placed in a re-sealable 1-liter clear plastic bag.
  • To ensure the safety and comfort of all travelers, your carry-on items may not exceed these limits. For these reasons, we may measure your carry-on bag at the airport. If it exceeds these limits, you will have to pay to check it in.
  • On some fully booked flights or on smaller aircraft, you may need to check in your carry-on even if the bag is within the size and weight limits for carry-on baggage. In such cases, you will not have to pay anything extra.
  • If you are traveling to the US, you may be asked to show that your mobile devices (phones, tablets, computers or other electronic equipment) are operating properly, so please ensure that your devices are charged.
  • On SAS Charter flights, other baggage regulations and guidelines may apply.

Special baggage

Our allocation for special baggage is limited. You need to request your special bag no later than 24 hours before departure (48 hours for a wheelchair). The request must be confirmed by SAS before you arrive at the airport.

If you've submitted a request within 24 hours of your booking, you can freely rebook or cancel your booking in case we are unable to accommodate your request.

We have made it easy to request special baggage for sports equipment (golf bags, bicycle, ski equipment) on SAS flights. Go to My bookings and make your request today. For all other special baggage request, please fill out a registration form.

  • You can bring most types of special baggage as part of the checked baggage included in your ticket at no extra cost, as long as it fits within the limit for the checked baggage included in your ticket. If it doesn’t fit, you will need to buy extra baggage.

Electronic Devices

The US Department of Homeland Security is implementing enhanced security measures, both seen and unseen, at all last-point-of-departure airports in 105 countries around world. The enhanced security measures are both seen and unseen; however, travelers flying to the United States may experience additional screening of their person and property. There are no changes to items allowed in carry-on and checked baggage. The enhanced security measures include but are not limited to:

  • Enhancing overall traveler screening
  • Conducting heightened screening of personal electronic devices
  • Increasing security protocols around aircraft and in passenger areas
  • Deploying advanced technology, expanding canine screening and establishing additional preclearance locations
