Friday

Check in to your weekend accommodation

Start your weekend by checking in to one of the city’s hotels. Malmö has several charming hotels well worth a visit—and the best thing about Malmö is that you’re within walking distance of almost everything, no matter where you are in the city. For example, we love the popular and beautifully decorated luxury hotel MJ’s, where you’ll be served breakfast in the lush breakfast garden and a drink at the hotel’s vibrant bar. Another favorite is the boutique Story Hotel, which offers a beautiful location overlooking the water.

Discover Malmö from the water

Discovering Malmö from the water is incredibly beautiful. Along the canal, you’ll find several different types of boats for hire—from guided tours to motorboats and pedal boats for those who prefer to explore the city at their own pace. The entire canal takes about an hour to navigate, so make sure you bring some good food and beverages and enjoy a picnic on the water.

Taste sensations at Malmö Saluhall

After a day on the water, you’ll want to warm up—and the best way to do that is by enjoying a delicious bite to eat. At Malmö Saluhall food market, you’ll find something for all tastes. Stroll among fresh, fragrant ingredients and sample fascinating cheeses and delicacies—or sit and enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants while looking out over Saluhall’s mouthwatering selection.

Beer tasting

Round off the first day of your trip with a delicious beer. Malmö Brewing Co & Taproom is a must for serious beer lovers. You’ll find 42 different beers on tap here—many brewed in the same building. If you have a hard time choosing between all the flavors, we recommend that you book a private beer tasting for you and your friends, where you’ll also learn about the brewery and its history.

Brunch at Kava

Beautifully located next to St. Peter’s Church, restaurant Kava serves breakfast, brunch and excellent wines. Begin your Saturday with a stop here to replenish your energy for the day’s activities. During the summer months, the small outdoor seating area is the perfect place for people-watching while sipping a good natural wine and enjoying classic, well-prepared brunch dishes such as grilled cheese, scrambled eggs and fresh fruit.

Secondhand shopping in “Möllan”

Take a walk to the hip, multicultural neighborhood Möllevången (or “Möllan” as it’s popularly known) to discover some of the city’s most exciting bars, cafés and shops. You’ll find several enticing secondhand shops here for true fashion enthusiasts visiting the city, such as the well-stocked Humana at Möllevångsgatan 29B or Beyond Retro at Claesgatan 8.

Dinner at Far i Hatten

The restaurant with Malmö’s most famous outdoor terrace, Far i Hatten, is located in the middle of Folkets Park, with a menu of locally produced and seasonal ingredients, superb wood-fired pizza and an exceptional wine selection. In the evenings, Far i Hatten also turns into a popular venue for dancing, live music and events until late into the night.

The best falafel in Malmö

Malmö is a paradise for falafel lovers, so before wrapping up your weekend, don’t forget to visit one of the city’s most famous falafel places, such as the popular Värnhems Falafel next to Värnhemstorget or Möllans Falafel just steps from Möllevångstorget.

Step into the world of art

A visit to Malmö is not complete without a taste of the city’s rich cultural life—and Malmö Konsthall is well worth a visit for this reason. The large art gallery with its large, open spaces presents numerous exhibitions throughout the year, so chances are high that you’ll find something you like. Don’t miss the famous bookstore with one of Sweden’s largest selections of books and art—it’s the perfect place if you’re looking for a souvenir to take home after a weekend in the city.
