SAF is an important part of aviation’s long-term transition. By adding SAF to your journey, you support the increased use of fuels that can reduce lifecycle CO2 emissions compared to conventional jet fuel.

Reducing emissions from flight operations

Reducing emissions from flight operations is a key priority for SAS and an integral part of our long-term strategy. This work includes fleet renewal, operational efficiency improvements, increased use of sustainable aviation fuel, and collaboration across the aviation industry.

Good to know

  • Customer-funded SAF volumes are purchased in addition to the volumes SAS has already committed to.

  • SAS uses certified sustainable aviation fuel that meets established sustainability criteria, including requirements related to land use, water resources, and biodiversity.

About SAF

SAF can reduce lifecycle CO2 emissions compared to conventional jet fuel, depending on the specific production pathway and feedstock used.

SAF supplied to SAS is delivered at selected major airports in Scandinavia and is blended with conventional jet fuel in accordance with current technical and regulatory requirements.

All SAS aircraft are certified to operate using approved SAF blends within applicable limits.

SAF fuel sources

SAS only uses certified and aviation fuels made from sources that do not affect the general availability of crops used for food production, access to drinking water, biodiversity or land.
