How accessible is SAS’ app?

As of June 2025, SAS’ app partially conforms with the technical standard for websites and mobile apps, EN 301 549 v.3.2.1, except for the known problems listed below.

Overall App

  • Some areas have contrast issues

  • Text resizing is currently limited to 150%

  • Not all images have equivalent text alternatives

  • Some elements are not accessible via external keyboards

Home

  • Voice over does not work for all elements

Booking Flow

  • Screen reader users are not informed of errors when pressing "Continue"

  • Assistance form does not clearly indicate errors

  • No confirmation message for screen reader users after adding assistance requests

  • Focus is inconsistently managed between booking steps

  • Seat map provides insufficient information for screen reader users

  • Modal headings are not correctly structured; close buttons are not accessible

  • Radio buttons do not announce their state to screen readers

  • Some labels/buttons are not accessible to screen reader users

  • "Pay" button is not selectable in the payment webview for screen reader users

  • "Edit traveler" action is missing in Traveler Details for screen reader users

  • Ticket availability calendar lacks clear information on dates and prices

  • Seat map provides insufficient information for screen reader users

  • Table headers (TB) do not announce previous/next correctly

  • Images and icons lack text alternatives

  • Modal headings are not structured; close buttons are not accessible

  • Radio buttons do not communicate their state to screen readers

  • Some labels/buttons are not accessible to screen reader users

  • "Add Extras" block is not selectable using a screen reader

  • We are aware of accessibility issues in these areas and are actively working on long-term improvements

We used a combination of manual and semi-automated testing methods, including the following assistive technologies:

  • Keyboard navigation

  • Voice control

  • Switch control
