Refund due to death in family

If an immediate family member has passed away, you can request a refund for trips booked directly with SAS by submitting a death certificate and proof of your relationship. If you booked through a travel agent, please contact them.

All submitted documents will be kept for at least 2 years.

Step 1 / 7

How your refund will be processed

We’ll refund the value of your completely unused ticket to the same payment method you used to purchase it.

If you’ve already used part of your ticket, you may still be eligible for a refund if you:

  • arranged alternative travel for your return journey, or

  • paid rebooking costs after your journey started.

If you’re requesting a refund due to a death: SAS will provide a full refund if the traveler is an immediate family member of the deceased. For other travelers who cancel their trip due to a death, the refund will be based on the ticket’s fare rules.

Immediate family members include a spouse or cohabiting partner, child, parent, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, parent-in-law, brother- or sister-in-law, and son- or daughter-in-law.
