Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Arlanda Airport is 23 miles north of Stockholm and is the main terminus for flights coming in and out of Sweden. As well as being the largest airport in the country, it is the third-largest in the Nordic region and the second-busiest for international flights.

Airport terminals and transport

Arlanda has four terminals numbered from 2 to 5. The layout of the airport is straightforward and international flights use Terminals 2 and 5, with SAS and Star Alliance occupying Terminal 5. This main terminal is connected to Stockholm Central train station by regular high-speed services, which makes both arriving and departing from the airport itself simple. The Arlanda Express departs from both the airport and Stockholm Central every 10 minutes during peak hours and takes only 20 minutes to arrive at their destinations. Other transport options to and from the airport include a link to the regular commuter train service between Uppsala and Stockholm, a number of bus routes to the capital and its surrounding area and numerous fixed-price taxis immediately outside the airport. It is also possible to hire cars at the airport, as well as park affordably nearby and take a free shuttle bus to the terminal.

Airport facilities

The airport has plenty of passenger facilities to be used whilst waiting for one's flight, including a dedicated shopping area outside the security area known as Sky City. It is home to over 30 restaurants, three hotels, two banks and even conference facilities for passengers who don't want to leave the airport to conduct their business in Sweden. For passengers looking for a unique holiday experience, you can stay at the Jumbo Hostel. This decommissioned Boeing 747 offers accommodation a quick shuttle bus ride away.
