Special baggage
- whether it’s a stroller, skis or a cello, SAS can transport most items

 Special baggage

  • Simple rules. SAS always allows you to take at least one bag (up to 23 kg/50 lbs.) with you, plus one item of cabin baggage (up to 8 kg/17 lbs.) completely free. If you are traveling in SAS Plus or SAS Business, you can take even more. Check the baggage rules that apply for your ticket

  • If you are traveling with only a golf bag, ski equipment or a musical instrument – and no other baggage – there will be no additional charge. One piece of baggage is always included!

  • If you need to take more items of baggage than your ticket allows or if your luggage is too heavy than your ticket allows, you will have to pay extra. Prices for extra and overweight baggage

  • Save money if you choose to pay for your extra baggage when you check in online or at a SAS Self-Service Kiosk at the airport. If you pay at the bag drop, other prices will apply. Calculate the cost of your extra baggage

  • If you are traveling in a group where several of you are taking special baggage, you must register this in your booking prior to departure. If you have booked with SAS, fill in the form through the link below. If you have booked with a travel agency, contact them directly.
    Register special baggage

  • Checking in special baggage. Simple – check in, retrieve your bag tags and leave your special baggage at the counter marked "Special baggage."
  • If you are traveling alone, you only need to register certain kinds of special baggage and very heavy and bulky luggage in your booking prior to departure.  You can see the rules for different types of baggage below.

  • Special baggage is carried subject to availability and is not a guaranteed service. Owing to the different and limited capacities of the holds of different aircraft types, and because of other rules applied by our partners, we cannot guarantee that your special baggage will always accompany your flight.

  • Register special baggage: If you have booked with SAS, complete the form through the link below. If you have booked through a travel agent, please contact them. Register special baggage here

Please remember that no items other than the stroller can be placed in the plastic bags.

    • If you want to take a stroller for a child over 2 years old, this counts as an item of baggage. If the child also has a bag with them, an additional charge will apply for overweight baggage.

    • A child car seat counts as one item of baggage and can be checked in.

    • Child car seat for infants (0-2 years) If you want to take a child car seat on-board, you must buy a child ticket for your infant and pay the same fare as for a child aged 2-12. The child car seat can be either forward-facing or rear-facing and is secured in the seat next to you. To reserve a seat for a child car seat, please contact SAS Customer Contact Center.
