Fjords of Norway

Rich in tradition, culture and geographic wonders, Norway is a popular destination for tourists of all ages and nationalities. With regular cheap flights into its many airports, visiting the country has never been more convenient.

Cheap flights to Oslo bring the capital city within easy reach. Here, historic buildings and monuments, like the Royal Palace and Storting, the impressive seat of the Norwegian parliament, rub shoulders with the modern architecture of the Oslo Opera House and Nobel Peace Center.

Travel within the metropolitan area is easy. It can be done on foot, by public transport or bicycle. You can also hop on a sightseeing bus or boat for a guided tour. Stroll in one of the many parks, cycle beside the lakes or glimpse through Norway’s past at the open-air Norsk Folkemuseum. Indoor attractions include museums and art galleries, as well as the city’s many shops and cafés.

Popular destinations

Oslo has a wide choice of restaurants serving both traditional and modern Norwegian cuisine. Its waterfront location ensures fresh fish and seafood that taste even better when washed down with a local beer.

Bergen on the west coast of Norway and surrounded by seven mountains is as charming and beautiful in the winter snow as it is under the summer sun. Bryggen, the old town on the wharf with its traditionally styled wooden buildings, is especially charming.

Bergen boasts a large variety of transport options, including trams, trolley buses, a tourist train, funicular railway and cable car - the latter two taking you up into the mountains.

In addition to being an attractive destination in its own right, Bergen is also known as the gateway to the fjords. Make Bergen your base for a day trip or a longer expedition on foot or by boat. Ferries and cheap flights to Bergen take you right to the heart of fjord country.

Fishing in Norway

Stavanger is surrounded by striking geological features, none more fascinating than the Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock, which overhangs the fjord below. If climbing the rocks sounds too energetic, walk along the white sand of the beaches or cycle one of the safe and family friendly green routes.

The Stavanger region is a great place for outdoor activities all year round. Travel the rivers by kayak, or go for a swim with the salmon. In the winter, cheap flights to Stavanger bring you close to the slopes, with the unique ski boat crossing from the town to the Sauda ski center in just two hours.

Ålesund Airport is a major regional hub, so cheap flights to Ålesund can be the starting point for many kinds of holidays. There are plenty of attractions in and around the town itself, too.  Razed by fire in 1904, Ålesund was rebuilt in a distinctive Art Nouveau style that has earned it the title of Norway’s most beautiful town. Shops, art galleries and museums mean there are amusements for the whole family. Aksla Mountain provides a view across the city and the coast, while further afield, Hjørundfjord and the Sunnmøre Alps offer glacier walking, skiing, snowboarding and other outdoor activities.

Whether you enjoy getting back to nature or mixing with the big city crowds, gazing at the Northern Lights or partying at a nightclub, Norway has just the perfect holiday for you.
