Busy airports - Prepare for travel

Many travelers during the summer holidays will result in longer queuing times than usual at the airports, both for check-in and security check points.

To make your trip a smooth and stress-free experience, some of the most important things to remember are to check the documents required for the trip before going to the airport and also to allow extra time for arrival at the airport before departure.

Airport - allow extra time

Passengers are recommended to allow extra time for arrival at the airport before departure during the Summer holiday season. Passengers are always responsible for making sure about what applies for their particular flight through their airline and for keeping informed through updates.

  • Passengers are advised to check in online from home or in a machine at the airport.

  • Prepare for the security checkpoint to avoid congestion and long queues.

Documentation

It is the responsibility of passengers to find out what travel restrictions apply to their destination, and therefore passengers are advised to check the documents required for travel before going to the airport.

  • When travelling abroad passengers must be able to show a national ID card or passport.

  • When travel to countries within the Schengen cooperation area, there will be no border check in conjunction with arrival. However, passengers must be able to prove their identity with a passport or a national ID card during their stay in the visiting country. Therefore, it’s recommended that passengers always bring a valid passport and ID.

  • For domestic flights, there is no need for a passport or national ID card.

Keep any necessary documents on your person or in your hand baggage.

Baggage

The ticket type and EuroBonus membership level determines if checked baggage is included in the ticket, or whether additional payment is required.

To find out the exact baggage weight allowance, it is recommended to check the baggage weight allowance via My Bookings.

Liquids in hand baggage

A limited amount of liquids are allowed in hand baggage. Examples of liquids are drinks, creams and gels. No explosive liquids are allowed. All containers with liquids must be placed in a 1 litre transparent and resealable plastic bag.

Each container is allowed to hold a maximum of 100 millilitres. It is allowed to bring as many containers as can fit in the plastic bag, and it must be possible to completely close the bag. Examples of containers are bottles, jars and tubes.

Medications in hand baggage

It’s allowed to bring whatever prescription and over-the-counter medication necessary during the flight and throughout the trip. This also includes medications in liquid form (including syringes). You may also bring any ice packs or similar implements that are needed in order to transport your medication.

The medications in liquid form must be presented separately from the hand baggage at the security checkpoint. However, it does not need to be placed in the same plastic bag as other liquids.

Baby food or dietary food in hand baggage

It’s allowed to bring whatever baby food or dietary food necessary during the flight. This needs to be presented separately to the hand baggage at the security checkpoint. However, it does not need to be placed in the same plastic bag as other liquids.

Last but not least, limit the amount of hand baggage brought into the cabin.
