Oslo transport

When getting to and from the airport, Oslo offers a way of transport for everyone, whether travelling on business or a more modest personal budget.

If you value your independence, the best way is to hire a car. Taxis come a close second, with Oslo Taxi, Taxi2 and Norgestaxi operating on fixed prices so you know exactly what you will pay before you step inside. The actual journey price depends on the number of passengers, time of day and exact destination.

Other alternatives include train and bus. The Flytoget Airport Express Train leaves Gardermoen airport and Oslo Central Station every 20 minutes, so you never have to wait long. The journey takes 19 minutes. For something a few minutes slower, but much cheaper, take a regional or local train. The Flybussen also runs every 20 minutes, but takes approximately 45 minutes.

Once in Oslo, getting around couldn't be easier. Once purchased, tickets can be utilised on all different modes of public transport, including ferries. There are sales points all over the city, such as Trafikanten, right in front of Oslo Central Station, subway stations, and 7-Eleven and Narvesen shops. It's also possible to buy single tickets from bus or tram drivers when you board, but they're a lot more expensive. Tickets are valid for a fixed time from the moment of purchase, anything from one hour to one year, and can be used as many times as necessary within the period.

A cheap and convenient way to travel is with an Oslo Pass. It is valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours and gives you free access to all public transport, free car parking, admission to museums and other major attractions and discounts at restaurants and many other venues.

SAS offers multiple daily departures to Oslo from the UK.
