Reduced mobility

  • The SAS fleet consists of several different types of aircraft of varying sizes. Depending on the type of aircraft, there may be restrictions regarding access to assistive devices or equipment for use or in consideration of space for passengers. The aircraft type can also restrict and/or render impossible the transport of customer equipment or baggage as cargo.

  • To facilitate your journey with assistive devices or equipment that requires additional space due to weight or size, let us know at the time of booking to ensure a trouble-free trip for those who need assistive devices and/or equipment. You can reserve your seat onboard the flight at the same time.

  • For safety and/or other operational reasons, it may be necessary to use a different type of aircraft than originally planned. You will be informed at the time of booking. If such a change of aircraft makes it impossible for you to travel with an assistive device/equipment, we will offer an alternative for your trip.

  • We offer wheelchair assistance at all airports and wheelchairs onboard intercontinental flights. You can bring a collapsible or motorized wheelchair or walker for free if it does not exceed SAS size limits for wheelchairs. Please contact SAS Customer Contact Center for more information.

  • Motorized wheelchairs with spillable batteries, must be shipped as cargo. If you have difficulty getting to and from the aircraft and need assistance, we can provide a wheelchair and assistance from check-in to arrival.

  • To ensure that you get the help you need, register your wheelchair in your reservation no later than 48 hours before departure. Book assistance in connection with your trip here

  • If you need walker assistance, it is treated like a wheelchair. You can bring your walker to the gate. From there, it will be loaded under the same rules that apply to wheelchairs.

  • Onboard all our SAS flights, cabin crew are not authorized to:
    • lift or carry you
    • assist you with your meals
    • administer or supervise your intake of medication
    • administer or supervise your intake of medication or provide you with assistance in using the lavatories

  • On our A330 and A340 aircraft that primarily fly intercontinental routes, there is a special wheelchair available for the use of passengers with reduced mobility.

  • If you are ordering assistance for a passenger who needs a wheelchair, you must provide a code indicating the mobility of the passenger.
