Animals in cargo hold

Rejs med dyr

  • Animals that are checked in as cargo must travel in transport boxes that are solid, tight, clean and disinfected.

  • The box must be made of fiberglass, metal (not wire or metal mesh) or hard plastic and equipped with handles on the sides. The box must also be equipped with containers for food and water and the bottom of the cage should be covered with a layer of newspaper or sawdust (not hay or straw).

  • For the animal's comfort, the cage must be large enough so that the animal can stand up, turn and lie naturally. If the cage does not fulfill the requirements, check-in staff can reject the cage. More about how to find the right cage size for your animal

  • SAS transport boxes, approved by the veterinary authorities, are available for purchase from Trust Forwarding.

  • There is a fixed price per cage and flight segment to bring an animal. More about prices here

  • Two adults animals of comparable size weighing up to 14 kg (31 lbs.) each can be transported in the same cage if they are used to cohabitation.

  • Animals over 14 kg (31 lbs.) must travel individually.

  • Up to three animals can be transported together if they are under 6 months old and come from the same litter.

  • When animals are transported in the cargo hold, the pressure and temperature are the same as in the passenger cabin. The availability of oxygen in the cargo hold for live animals limits the number and size of the animals that are transported at the same time.
