Are you traveling with children & infants?

Infants are 0-2 years old

In the airline industry, when referring to an infant we mean a passenger who has not reached his/her 2nd birthday. If you book an infant ticket he/she will not have their own seat on board. However, if you need an separate seat for your baby, please book the applicable child's fare.

You may travel with two infants when the applicable child's fare is paid for one of the infants. However, you have to book this ticket through SAS Sales. If you are flying with two infants and whenever the fasten seat belt sign is on:
- one infant shall sit on your lap with the infant belt secured, and
- the other infant shall be seated in a car-type infant seat that you have to bring by yourself.

Children are 2-12 years old

Generally speaking, a passenger is considered a child between 2 and 11 years of age (i.e. has reached his/her 2nd but not 12th birthday).

A child under the age of 5 years must travel together with a person 16 years or older.
A person 16 year or older is considered as an adult.

The child and accompanies (over 16 years) shall travel in same class otherwise the child must travel as unaccompanied child.

When booking your tickets online, please call SAS telephone sales for arranging the best for your infant/child.

Unaccompanied children
Children sometimes need to travel on their own. We therefore offer an unaccompanied minor service to ensure they are looked after during the trip. The service permits children who have reached their 5th but not 12th birthday to fly alone. The service is optional for travelers aged 12 - 15 years, but if requested by the parent/guardian, the child can not decline the service.

You need to request the Unaccompanied Minor service in advance, because the number on each flight is limited. You are not yet able to book the service here on the internet, but have to contact SAS telephone booking.

You will have to complete a handling advice form for your child. Please download the form and fill it out before you check in. If you are unable to do so the form will be given to you at the SAS check-in counter at the airport.

When traveling

When you bring your child to the airport you will be asked to assist with departure formalities and to remain at the airport until the aircraft has taken off. Your child will be escorted through the security check, to the departure gate and onboard. Boarding takes place ahead of the other passengers. Your child will be accompanied through arrival formalities before handing her/him over to the care of the meeting adult (the person stated on the handling advice form).
