If you are travelling to a destination outside the Schengen Area, you will always be asked to present a valid passport at check-in and before boarding the plane. Children, regardless of their age, must have their own passport that prove their nationality, even when they are travelling with an adult.
Parents or guardians of children travelling alone must also present identification.
When boarding an international flight, please ensure that you possess the necessary documentation for your destination. These include passports, visas, Electronic Travel Authority (Australia), exit permits and vaccination certificates.
To find out what documentation is necessary for your destination, please contact your travel agent.
All travelers to Norway must be in possession of a valid travel document and must be prepared to subject to border checks when crossing a Norwegian border.
Note: All passengers travelling from France must present a valid ID card or passport upon departure.
*Note: Svalbard in Norway is not part of the Schengen Area. Please ensure that you have all necessary travel documents with you if you plan to visit.
Note: If you are travelling within the Schengen Area on a Schengen visa and will travel between Stockholm and Rome with our partner Ethiopian Airlines, you will need a multiple-entry Schengen visa. Since Ethiopian Airlines stops in Rome on its way to Addis Abeba, this flight is considered a non-Schengen flight and arrives at the non-Schengen area at Rome’s airport. In order to enter Italy, you will need an unused Schengen visa. Please check that you possess all the necessary documents before you start your journey from Sweden. Once you are at the airport, there will be no authority to help you secure a valid Schengen visa.
Note: Travel to China
If you are travelling to China on a Swedish passport or are a resident of Sweden, you will need a personal invitation letter from China when applying for a tourist visa. Read more about what applies to your trip.
Note: Passengers who need Schengen visas and are travelling through Oslo to another non-Schengen country (e.g. Moscow-Oslo-London) must have a transit Schengen visa in order to travel.
