Medical needs

We provide assistance to passengers with reduced mobility or special needs

We publish information on the services we offer in order to provide assistance to passengers with reduced mobility or special needs in a manner compatible with applicable safety regulations and EC regulation, 1107/2006. In order to give our passengers the best possible help and in accordance with EC regulation 1107/2006 we need information regarding your need for assistance at the latest 48 hours before departure, so we can inform the responsible Managing Body at the airport(s) about the assistance needed.

If your booking is made later, we will make all reasonable efforts to provide the service required. In this case we cannot guarantee that this can be done successfully. 

Passengers with reduced mobility need to present themselves at the check in counter in good time before departure. If no other time is stipulated in writing the passenger need to present him- or herself at the check in counter no later than one hour prior to departure time. If the passenger chooses a meeting point the stipulated time is two hours prior to departure time.

New rules concerning PRM on flights to and from United States

New rules concerning People with reduced mobility, PRM, US DOT 382. From May 13 2009, new rules come into force for passenger travelling on flights to and from United States. SAS are already fulfilling this requirement and are just doing some minor changes in their procedures. The regulation are available below.

Oxygen brought by passenger


If you need oxygen during the transportation to/from the aircraft and/or during the journey you may bring your own gaseous oxygen or air cylinders. The oxygen can be carried both as checked or unchecked baggage. The measurement of the cylinders must not exceed the maximum permitted weight or dimensions for cabin baggage, which is at maximum 115 cm/46 in and 8 kg/18lbs.
When you are bringing own oxygen, a reservation must be made also stating the number of bottles.

Oxygen provided by SAS

Oxygen is available for passengers with a condition that might require oxygen. A Medical Information form (MEDIF) must be filled out and the request has to be authorized by SAS Medical Department.

When you require oxygen, a reservation must be made in order for an installation onboard.

SAS intercontinental flights: EUR 335 per journey
other SAS flights: EUR 150 per journey
