Commenting on the success of the route and additional services to Copenhagen, Lars-Ove Filipson, General Manager United Kingdom & Ireland, Scandinavian Airlines System said:
“SAS’ London City routes have proven exceptionally popular among London business travellers, particularly amongst the Financial Districts in Canary Wharf and the London City community. During 2006 we have seen the demand for this route increase, both from business and leisure travellers. The demand for Business Class alone has risen 24 per cent and the success of the London City to Copenhagen route has brought about the need for an additional daily service.”
Richard Gooding, Managing Director for London City Airport said:
“The SAS service from London City continues to draw growing business from our neighbouring business communities and we are delighted to welcome this additional flight to London City Airport. SAS is one of Europe’s largest airlines and the number one carrier in the Scandinavian market. We are encouraged by the airline’s increased support of London City, we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with SAS.”
The airport is located on the doorstep of London’s financial district, and provides quick and efficient services for business travellers located in Canary Wharf, the City, East London, and the surrounding Westminster and central London catchment areas.
