Blue1, the Finnish member airline of the SAS Group, today announces its new daily direct service from London Heathrow Airport to Helsinki
The airline’s new service from London Heathrow Airport to the Finnish capital is a significant strengthening of the airline’s UK network.
From 30 March 2008 the airline will operate a new daily direct service from London Heathrow to Helsinki. The new service will replace the current Blue1 service from Stansted and will make travel to Finland easier and more convenient than ever. All flights will be operated by MD90 aircraft.
Commenting on the introduction of the route, Lars-Ove Filipson, General Manager United Kingdom & Ireland, Scandinavian Airlines System said: “We are delighted that Blue1 has been able to secure this route from London Heathrow Airport to Helsinki. In recent years it has become increasingly difficult for airlines to gain Heathrow slots.
Blue1’s new direct London Heathrow to Helsinki service complements the existing SAS routes from London Heathrow and London City Airport via Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo which means that from London SAS and Blue1 now have a total of nine daily direct and indirect services to the Finnish capital. Add to this the fact that Blue1’s £83.00 one way Economy fare for its new direct service is the lowest fare on the market and it is easy to see why Blue1 and SAS Group are the obvious choice for travel to Helsinki.”
Blue1 offers travellers a two class service on its London to Helsinki route, offering passengers its popular Economy Extra service and Economy service.
Economy Extra class gives passengers greater flexibility on its short-haul service. All customers travelling on the airline’s daily service from Heathrow to the Finnish capital can now take advantage of flexible tickets, use of Business Class check-in, dedicated cabin space and complimentary food and wine during the flight.
Blue1’s flexible one-way tickets are combinable across the two classes allowing customers to tailor their travel to suit their individual needs, be that Economy Extra on the outbound leg and Economy Class on the return. The flexible tickets allow customers the option to change their Blue1 ticket and even rebook on another SAS service. The Economy Extra ticket entitles purchasers to a full refund upon cancellation and members of the SAS frequent flier programme, EuroBonus, will receive 50 per cent more points per one way flight than passengers travelling in Economy.
